Music, Service, and Summer Gatherings

The last couple of weeks have been full, meaningful, and a little bit varied, so I thought I’d share some highlights of what I’ve been up to.

One of the sweetest experiences I had was playing the piano for a baptism in my ward. It was for a very lovely 8-year-old boy and his gracious family, and it was a privilege to be part of such a special day for them. Moments like that remind me why I often enjoy using music to serve—it helps create a sacred atmosphere that words alone can’t always reach.

I also had the chance to spend time in the temple doing initiatories. I always find peace there and a renewed sense of perspective.

At Post High, I’ve been bringing musical instruments to try with the students, and we’ve had fun playing “Would You Rather.” It’s great to see the kids light up with music, humor, and positive interactions. We’ve also been talking about communication videos from YouTube which spark some good topics of conversation.

On the elementary side, I’ve been preparing for meetings with parents of my elementary students and conducting communication evaluations. It takes energy, but it’s great when I see the progress kids can make with the right interventions and support.

And finally, I helped with a stake single adult pool party, potluck, and game night that a committee and I helped plan and publicize. We had our largest turnout yet—probably around 70 people! It was a fun evening of connection, food, and laughter. I’m grateful for the chance to help create spaces where good people can gather and feel included.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, but looking back, I’m grateful for the blend of music, service, faith, and community that keep me busy.
