Where can I hear Lisa sing?

People have been asking me this lately, so... One place is this blog!! It has links to videos and recordings that should give you some awesome singing moments :) Another place is... 144 W 15th Street in Manhattan on Sundays in a church service starting at around 1:15 pm on the 4th floor!! I sing there almost every Sunday in a free and beautiful service that is primarily conducted in American Sign Language (ASL) so as to be accessible to an ASL crowd, but it also has some great aurally audible musical moments thanks to my friends Jami and Richard Gordon-Smith, my parents Tom and Diane Higbee, lots of LDS full-time missionaries, and more!!!!! Blooming Arts Festival...

So I've been thinking about my submission to the Blooming Arts Festival coming up in a couple of weeks and how to make it a truly wonderful expression of my faith and my testimony of scripture. This weekend I attended an amazing symposium-- a conference hosted by the young single adult organization of the New York Stake of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints to commemorate the 400th Anniversary of the King James Version of the Bible. I loved it! The presenters helped me take stock of my Bible awareness. I was reminded of the importance of becoming aware of language and culture in order to gain a better understanding of the context from which the Bible came. I was enlightened as to several modern translations of the Bible that are doctrinally consistent with LDS teachings. Fortunately

I started to write an entry in the form of the children's book Fortunately/Unfortunately. Fortunately, it's a fun way to write. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I can't flip flop between fortunately and unfortunately evenly like they do in the children's book! It seems I just have to write fortunately or unfortunately as it comes, and it ended up being mostly fortunately. So here's what came pouring from my fingers tonight: Fortunately, I went to auditions today for Pittsburgh Light Opera's fabulous season which includes some shows which have music I really love, like The Student Prince and Hairspray. Unfortunately (for me), the auditioners were seeing only members of equity, the actor's union. Unfortunately, I am not yet a member of actor's equity. Fortunately, I had brought food and a couple of knitting projects so I could at least sit down and eat my lunch in a friendly place before going home. Fortunately, I at least got to see Abby Bra...
