Some cool contemplations on reinvigorating release- LYRICS

Image
Songwriting time!  Today's song is a short and sweet one and has words you might hear or consider at the beginning of a meditation session or a yoga class.  I was inspired to write it around the time that I was asked to sing during a local yoga class savasana.  It's an invitation to relax, let go, and open up.   Here are the lyrics: Time to let go of some of that load, Open your heart, find the things that have flowed, Time to release and get set to feel good, Nothing is perfect, and there is no should, Reach and just think of what you're grateful for, Be what you are cuz we're not keeping score, You can be grounded and still touch the sky, Talk to your heart and then hear its reply. Thanks for reading!  Check back to see me do it via video...  I'll plan to post it on my youtube channel lisaslivelylife and here on my blog in the next couple of weeks. Namaste!

I think we can make it to the end of the '20-'21 school year!

Image
What thoughts run through your head at the end of the school year?  Especially a school year like this one with COVID-19 happening throughout?  Here are some thoughts you might have when there are only six weeks left for this year... My new lyrics for a song with a familiar tune: Whatever it was, it was a weird school year, Six feet apart, a million things to do, for the COVID blues, Even the simple things have been rough, I think we've had enough,  But I think we can make it, Six more weeks, If we try, Six more weeks left in the school year!  If you're interested in hearing more music, you should definitely check out my facebook music pages:  https://www.facebook.com/lisasdreamsc ...  https://www.facebook.com/Lisa-Higbee- ...  My soundcloud:  https://soundcloud.com/lisa-higbee Learner guitar amazon link:  https://amzn.to/3rykvVy (As an Amazon Associate, I can earn from qualified purchases)    #endoftheschoolyear   #ithinkwecanmakeit

A Humble Hymn offering for an Excellent Easter (video)

What are some of your favorite Easter traditions?  Easter egg hunting?  Painting?  Wearing your best new clothes?  Wearing a bonnet?  Eating ham or lamb?   One of mine is singing this beautiful hymn by Cecil Frances Alexander: And here are the lyrics: He is risen! He is risen! Tell it out with joyful voice. He has burst his three days’ prison; Let the whole wide earth rejoice. Death is conquered; man is free. Christ has won the victory. Come with high and holy hymning; Chant our Lord’s triumphant lay. Not one darksome cloud is dimming Yonder glorious morning ray, Breaking o’er the purple east, Symbol of our Easter feast. He is risen! He is risen! He hath opened heaven’s gate. We are free from sin’s dark prison, Risen to a holier state. And a brighter Easter beam On our longing eyes shall stream. Text:  Cecil Frances Alexander, 1818–1895 Music:  Joachim Neander, 1650–1680 Happy Easter to all!

What Excellent Easter hymns are you humming (video)?

Have you ever found yourself unable to stop humming something seasonal?  Why fight it?  It's time to stock up on Easter hymns for humming.  In today's video you’re going to hear the hymn “Christ the Lord is Risen Today!”    So without further ado, Lyrics (Charles Wesley, 1739): Christ the Lord is ris’n today, Alleluia! Sons of men and angels say, Alleluia! Raise your joys and triumphs high, Alleluia! Sing, ye heav’ns, and earth, reply, Alleluia! Lives again our glorious King, Alleluia! Where, O death, is now thy sting? Alleluia! Once He died our souls to save, Alleluia! Where thy victory, O grave? Alleluia! Love’s redeeming work is done, Alleluia! Fought the fight, the battle won, Alleluia! Death in vain forbids His rise, Alleluia! Christ hath opened paradise, Alleluia! Soar we now where Christ hath led, Alleluia! Foll’wing our exalted Head, Alleluia! Made like Him, like Him we rise, Alleluia! Ours the cross, the grave, the skies, Alleluia! Hail the Lord of earth and heaven, Al

What comfort this sweet sentence gives!
He lives, he lives, who once was dead.

He lives to bless me with his love.
He lives to plead for me above.
He lives my hungry soul to feed.

I had not pow’r to ask his name, Whereto he went, or whence he came; Yet there was something in his eye That won my love; I knew not why. 2. Once, when my scanty meal was spread, He entered; not a word he spake, Just perishing for want of bread. I gave him all; he blessed it, brake, And ate, but gave me part again. Mine was an angel’s portion then, For while I fed with eager haste,The crust was manna to my taste.
3. I spied him where a fountain burst Clear from the rock; his strength was gone. The heedless water mocked his thirst; He heard it, saw it hurrying on

How can I help improve my child's literacy skills? Here's a quick video...

Image
Learn some ideas that will help improve literacy in children! Main ideas: Why reading? Reading is great exposure to language. It's also a great way to explore the world! Repetitive text makes it easy to predict what sentence structure is coming up and what will be said. It also makes books fun to read chorally! Rhyming books are great for teaching sound awareness. Books can help children of all ages explore feelings about the world. How to have fun with reading? Read out loud, pretend to be an actor, do voices, make noises! Visit libraries and see what's on display there. Ask questions about the text as you read.
